London Wildlife Trust
London is home to over 1400 Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation, 1500 varieties of flowering plant and visited by over 300 bird species. Our capital is also home to many threatened or nationally rare species.
London Wildlife Trust is the only charity dedicated solely to protecting the capital's wildlife and green spaces:
- Looking after over 50 nature reserves throughout greater London, covering around 300 hectares (the equivalent of 365 football pitches)
- Running inspirational education and community programmes to engage Londoners with nature via schools, events, walks and talks
- Managing ongoing conservation projects to protect threatened habitats and species, such as the sparrow, stag beetle and water vole
- Campaign independently to bring about positive change for wildlife and people in the capital and on issues such as urban development and climate change
- Encouraging Londoners to learn new skills and experience nature conservation at first hand through our volunteering programme
We have an exciting vision for the future where wildlife is valued by all in the capital and Londoners play an active part in looking after it. As a membership charity, based in the communities of London, our members give us the independence to work for all wildlife and all Londoners.
Registered Charity No. 283895.
